20 Verses about Self-Worth

When you don’t feel like enough, when you feel unworthy, when you feel like no one understands, when you feel like you don’t know who you are- God’s Word reminds us what we have in Him, and most importantly, who we are in Him. Take a moment and read over these verses. Put them in your phone. Write them on a post it note. Memorize them. Keep them close to your heart. They are truth, even when the lies of the enemy try to tell us otherwise. You are somebody!

1. “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith” Galatians 3:26

If you only could wrap your mind around who your father is. When the world overlooks you, only knows you by your issue, God looks at you and says “daughter”. When you feel rejected, misunderstood, lonely, remember that you are a daughter of the King!

 2. “Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we might also share in his glory.” Romans 8:17 NIV

Life sometimes seems full of suffering- but take heart. Because we share in Christ’s sufferings, you are royalty in the kingdom of God. Even if the world does not see your worth, God does!

  3. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:14 NIV

The Lord designed you, which means that no part of you was made on accident. God designed you with his own hands, and you are beautiful exactly the way you are.

4. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 NIV

God designed you with purpose, on purpose for a purpose. You life has immense meaning. Don’t ever doubt that.

 5. ” You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears your bottle. Are they not in your book?” Psalm 56:8 ESV

When we feel like no one understands- no one even sees us or knows what we’re going through, God sees. He counts our tears and understands our hurts.

    6. “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”  Philippians 4:13

It is the Lord who gives you strength to get through situations you feel you can’t make it through.

 7. “God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at the break of day.” Psalm 46:5 NIV

The Lord will pick you up when you fall and help you in your moments of weakness.

8. “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” Proverbs 31:10 NIV

You are worth far more than anything that can be found in this world, not because of how you look, or how you talk, or your education, but because of your character- because of who you are!

9. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV

Not some things, ALL things. Even when things don’t look like it, or don’t make sense, or when we feel like it can’t get worse, God promises that in the end, all things will work out for good.

10. “But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.'” 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

When the world looks at your outside appearance, God sees your heart. That is where your true value lies, not in how other people see your appearance.

11.  “Indeed, the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7 NIV

You are valuable down to the smallest, most intricate detail.

11.  “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7 NIV’

In the moments of doubt, remember that you have unlimited confidence through the Holy Spirit that is freely yours!

12.  “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 NIV

You are chosen. You are special to God. Even when you don’t feel special to other people, when you feel overlooked, God looked at you and said, I want you!

13. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14

Sometimes when life seems helpless and we are at a loss for what to do, we need to be still, knowing that the Lord will fight for us!

14. “My future is in your hands. Rescue me from those who hung me down relentlessly.” Psalm 31:15 NLT

You may not know what your future holds, but he does. Rest in his goodness and his plan for you. It is better than you can ask, think or imagine!

15. “But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lies in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.” 1 John 4:4 NLT

When we are fighting battles in our lives, we can be confident that God is greater. Because of Christ’s death on the cross, we can be confident that the battle is already won. Victory is ours in Christ Jesus!

16. “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NIV

Even when people give up on you, God promises to never give up on us– to continue the work that he began in us until the day of Christ.

17. “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12

The world tells us that when things are tough, we should give up. But God tells us that when things are tough, if you can just push through, you will be blessed. Don’t stop fighting. Don’t give up hope! There is a reward waiting for you.

18. “And those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and will not be faint.”  Isaiah 40:31 NIV

Whatever you do, do not lose your hope! When you hope, he promises to give you new strength. It is through our hope in him that we are made strong.

19. “‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV

His grace covers our weakness. And because of our weakness, God’s power makes us strong!

20. “Have I not commanded you, be strong and courageous,. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Even in your most lonely moments, you are never alone. Even when you feel abandoned, the Lord will always be by your side. He will NEVER leave you.
